This summer, I decided to do a month-long hair growth challenge using fenugreek — and honestly, I was desperate for something to work.
My hair had been stuck at waist length for a couple of years. No matter what I tried, it just wouldn’t grow past that point. After having my baby, my postpartum hair felt even more stubborn and lifeless. I went down a research rabbit hole about growth plateaus, and that’s when I stumbled upon Glow-in-Peace’s video about breaking through hair length barriers with a fenugreek and msm hair mask.
As someone who loves DIY hair care and needed real results, I had to try it. I applied the mask every two weeks throughout the month. Now, full transparency: I didn’t measure anything or take before-and-after photos (I know, I know 😅). But I could see the difference with my own eyes — and that’s what mattered to me.
My Real Results at a Glance
- Curls felt thicker and fuller
- Way less breakage than usual
- Stretched length looked longer
- Strong smell (not gonna lie)
- Application was a bit messy
My Verdict: Definitely worth doing once every two weeks
What You’ll Need
Exact product not shown — linked to similar recommended option. These are the products I used (or similar options you can shop below) 👇
- Fenugreek Seeds
- Conditioner (or leave-in / hair mask)
- Castor Oil
- Olive Oil
- MSM Powder (optional)
- Blender
- Cheesecloth or fine strainer
The Method I Used (No Grit!)
The original recipe used fenugreek powder — but I only had seeds. So I blended them, thinking it would be the same…
My first try left sand-like pieces stuck in my curls 😭
Here’s the version that actually works:
1️⃣ Soak 1 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds overnight
2️⃣ Boil briefly the next morning + let cool
3️⃣ Blend into a smooth liquid
4️⃣ Strain well using a cheesecloth
5️⃣ Mix with:
- 1–2 tbsp conditioner or hair mask
- 1 tsp of honey
- 1 tsp castor oil
- 1 tsp of shea butter
- 1 tsp olive oil
- Tiny pinch of MSM powder to test and then gradually increase to a teablespoon
6️⃣ Apply to scalp + curls
7️⃣ Cover with a shower cap for 1 hour
8️⃣ Rinse thoroughly and style as usual

Nighttime Care for Better Growth
One thing that helped me during this challenge was my night routine — keeping my curls moisturized and reducing breakage while I sleep.
Here are two things that made a big difference for me:
- Switching to a satin pillowcase
- Using a gentle scalp massage before bed

Final Verdict
Yes — it’s worth trying ✅
This isn’t a magical overnight growth hack…
but after a month, my curls genuinely looked and felt healthier.
I’m keeping this as a monthly strengthening treatment.
It’s a little effort for a lot of results ✨
